The Young Ladies’ Academy

The Ursulines and the education of girls

Truly a journey at the very heart of the boarding school, where nuns and students taught and learned, but also where they all lived together, this exhibition tells the story of the generations of girls and women that paced through the halls of the Old Monastery.

The collection of 19th and 20th centuries’ artefacts, books and archives give life to the everyday activities of the nuns and their pupils. Through the exhibition, discover the living environment of the boarding school, its daily schedule, the curriculum taught to the students, their games and friendships.

Humanism and feminity, pride and a sense of belonging carry the theme of this exhibition and through it, the history of women in Quebec.
